H.O.T. Still Needs Your Support!

Remember, even though H.O.T. is not actively adopting out Greyhounds at the present time, we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit relying on donations to maintain the ten senior and/or special needs Greys: Becks, Daisy, Foster, Gracie, Grant, Hailey, Macaroni, Mia, Percie, and Olivia currently being housed. Please keep H.O.T. in mind when you are looking to make a donation. All monetary gifts are tax deductible and used specifically to maintain the remaining senior and special needs H.O.T. Hounds. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

With the board's decision to change the focus of H.O.T. from adoption to support for Greyhounds and their owners, we continue our committment to the over 1,000 Greyhounds adopted through H.O.T. over the years or any Greyhound in the South Texas area. If you have a problem and need help with your Greyhound, H.O.T. is still just a phone call away, and that includes if your H.O.T. Hound needs to be rehomed. The commitment was made to the Greyhounds and the people who put them into H.O.T.'s care and H.O.T. will not let them down. You can call either Cheryl and Scott K. at 210-621-0123 or Joan and Dave L. at 210-492-4065. The Kings and the Longs will remain in close contact to make sure the needs of the H.O.T. family, as well as the Greyhound community in general, continue to be met.

The Kings hope to continue seeing many of you when you need to board your Greyhound.

If you are looking for that special Greyhound friend to add to your current Greyhound family, we urge you to contact one of the TGA approved Texas Greyhound adoption groups. There may be other Greyhound groups out there, but the listed groups are the ones who will do the best job in assisting you in finding that special Greyhound friend.

Rehoming a Greyhound REHOMING A GREYHOUND

I didn't really want you, I wasn't really sure
And I'll admit I had my doubts when you came through that door
Not small, or cute, or fluffy, with big soft puppy eyes,
But tall and thin and bony, with bald pink bulging thighs.
You weren't the kind I had in mind, not in any way.
Perhaps it would be better, if I took you back today
Before we know each other, it really won't be kind,
To keep you here for one more day and then to change my mind.
But against my better judgement, I decided you could stay and quickly I discovered, you were kind in every way.
Your gentleness and patience really stole the show
"Why! These dogs are wonderful, I must let others know"
You're my gentle giant, who just needed a chance,
To show us all what you could be, to wipe away that history.
Dispel our preconceptions, that put us all to shame
and so we come to know and love, what lies beneath that frame.
And now I've come to understand, what I missed at the start,
That Greyhounds need that great deep chest.....
To house their great big hearts.
